Re: Rich Fruit Cake
Hi Madeline,
You can buy treacle from BWY or Chang Thung. They would have repack it in plastic bottles. Famous brand is Lyle, if you are lucky you may find the tins on the shelves too.
As for Kitchen Capers, pls contact Gina directly as she owns the store and would know how to answer you best.
You can substitute black treacle with golden syrup only that the colour is lighter. You can get golden syrup from BWY and CT too.

Treacle and golden syrup are available at Cold Storage, and if I am not mistaken, there are other brands besides LYLE (I could be wrong, though). But LYLE is definitely available.

Cake flour is available at almost all baking supplies shops in the Klang Valley. The other similar category of flours as cake flour will be superfine flour, high ratio flour and low protein flour. If you still can't get these, just use all purpose or plain flour which you could get in supermarket. Since this recipe doesn't involve a lot of mixing, using AP or plain is pretty safe.
As for black treacle and golden syrup, the ladies were right. You can get both from Chang Tung and Bake With Yen. Otehrwise like what Zalina has mentioned, Lyle (brand) has got both. Treacle comes in red tin and golden syrup comes in green tin or plastic bottle. Good luck.
