Edible image on cookies
I made this as favours for a reunion lunch last week ....

and this set were the favours for the teachers.

I bought the flower stackable cookie cutter from ICCA and didn't realize that the cutter was HUGGGGGGGGGGGGGEEEEE ..like 6in in diameter ..and the stacked petals added more height to the cookie ..I have absolutely no idea how one is to gracefully eat the cookie ..hahahaha!!! There was supposed to be a bee stuck on to the cookie ..which would have added somemore 'length' to the cookie ..which would have made the cookie spill out from the plastic ..so I 'killed' the bee ..it would hv made it 'cuter', actually ..
To the question ..RI or fondant .... my vote .. fondant, if possible ... less messy to handle and the colour doesn't change ..esp if details are aplenty. RI is of course much cheaper ... messier, takes longer to dry ....
Tks Najat, again for the glucose tip ....

wah la .. sooo neat
Seeing such nice RI decorated cookies I also wanna try la. The cookies are sugar cookies right.. very soft dough? I bought some x'mas cutters fr wilton and tried the recipe that came with it.. I tell ya..stress maximum cuz I just couldn't handle the dough.. what more cut it. Not used to this kinda of cookie dough.

Tks Panpan and stef
Use the dough recipe recommended by Najat ..the Flour Pot recipe ... very easy to handle between sheets of Parchment paper (PP)... I even used PP to lift the cookies on to the baking tin ... Try not to handle using bare hands ... U'll be alright ... All the best ...

Re: Edible image on cookies
Lyzaghazali, lovely cookies u made. The last time I flooded my cookies with RI, the cookies became softer
. So I gave up flooding them but just piped the outlined of the cookies. How long did it take for the RI to harden??

Tks Carolyn ..
Did u use the Flour Pot recipe?
My disclaimer is that I had the air cond on the whole time i iced the cookies ... About 2-3 hours or slightly less, I should say ....
When I did the butterfly cookies, it took me slightly faster coz the RI was slightly thicker. This time, I thinned the RI for easier flooding but longer drying time. The cookies were fine ...

Re: Edible image on cookies
I have not tried the Flour Pot recipe. Where can I find it (other than in the book, of course)?
One of the recipes I tried produces a soft dough but very crispy cookie. What I did was to roll the dough between parchment sheets to the desired thickness, then I stick it into the freezer until the dough hardens. Then I take it out and cut with a cookie cutter. Very easy to handle.
Lyza, your icing looks glossy and nice.

Re: Edible image on cookies
Tks Ladies,
Zalina, Najat has posted the recipe here
http://mycakedecoclub.forumotion.net/cookies-f5/sugar-cookie-recipe-from-flour-pot-t455.htm
The icing soon becomes matte after it dries .....
Najat, I never thot I would be using my 'hantaran' experience in cake baking .. I used to have a whole room full of ribbons, nettings and stuff ...collected over 10+ years which I 'gave away' (dah pencen..).. to my dotter's kindy for their art and craft late last year .... Whaddyu know ..??? I'm collecting again ..much to DH's horror ....!!!
Nira, there was much love put in the design of the logo ..
.. from making the template (had engaged two friendly designers to trace the logo, resizing, photocopying, laminating), to cutting the cookies etc .......
Thanks again peeps ..
