Re: BREAKING SECRET!! Rolled fondant, anyone?
I went to BWY in Lrg Haji Taib 1 for the first time today. WOWOWOW!! Love it! I'll definitely be going there for my baking supplies from now on. FYI, Bakel fondant was selling at RM40 for 2.5kg and RM13.50 for the smaller bag (I think 750gm).

Hi Mama Min,
Just wondering, for step 1, usually how does it take for the gelatine to melt?

ladydi, when you add gelatine into water (from tap) and leave a while, you'll notice that the gelatine mixture will "kembang". Use double boil method to melt the gelatine mixture. Stir and the gelatine mixture will become liquid. Doesn't take long to melt.

Re: BREAKING SECRET!! Rolled fondant, anyone?
Thanks Mama Min. When I double-boil the gelatine mixture, I still notice some gelatine, not totally melt, but scared of overheating it. No worries, practice makes perfect! I'll work on my fondant again.

For better heat control, you can try microwaving the gelatine too. It will melt the same and you won't be afraid of overheating it.

Re: BREAKING SECRET!! Rolled fondant, anyone?
bonnievictoria, on the contrary with microwave oven. Microwave ovens tend to heat things unevenly. Have to watch carefully or there'll be burnt bits of gelatine
