Thanks ccyhan for sharing the link. We can't get MMF here in KL, guess it's due to the cost. I haven't tried making my own MMF but I have heard a few members have tried the recipe above.

I have tried the recipe above. It does taste better than the regular sugarpaste. It is rather easy to prepare too.

Yea it does taste better, its much softer and pliable in texture. if u plan to make fondant flowers with this, u need to add in some gum trax (Wilton). It helps in the hardening process. MMF can be kept in air tight container up to 2 or 3 weeks and still remain soft! It wont go bad because sugar is a natural preservative. I use it to cover my cakes. As for the flower decorations i use the regular fondant because i cant get gum trax here.

Hi rei, Just gone thru' the recipe and would like to know if do not have a microwave, can I double boil the marshmallow? Also when we use the cake mixer to mix in the icing sugar, does that mean we have to oil the mixing bowl, rite. Thanks f scratch

Hi Amy, sure you can use the double boil method. But be fore warned, it will take very very long. Because one of my students in Sg tried it and she told me it took almost 30 mins just to melt a small bag of marshmellows.

Personally I have never tried using the mixer to do the kneading. But I prefer to do it by hand. so I can feel the 'dough'. If its too sticky, add more icing sugar. If its too dry, I may need to add 1 drop of water. If I use the mixer, I cannot gauge just by looking at it.

Nola, not a big one, I use the pot for cooking maggie mee one and place another metal bowl on top of it. Also I choose those BBQ type marshmallow, faster to melt.
