Really Easy fondant
Somebody sent this to me... do you guys think it will work???
Sugarpaste/Fondant
Makes 575g/ 1 1/4 lb
1 egg white
2 tbs liquid glucose
2 tsp rosewater
450g/ 1 lb/ 1 1/2 cups icing sugar, sifted
1. Place the egg white, liquid glucose and rosewater into bowl.
Mix to break up egg white. Add icing sugar and combine with a wooden
spoon until the icing binds.
2. Knead with fingers until the mixture forms into a ball.
3. Place on a surface lightly dusted with icing sugar and knead
until smooth and free from cracks. (If too soft & sticky, knead in
more icing sugar, until firm & pliable. If sugarpaste should dry
out, knead in a little boiled water.)
Storing: Wrap the icing completely in clear film.

Re: Really Easy fondant
Don't see why it shouldn't work. Seen something similar before and the ingredients look sound. Just try it for yourself as that's the best way to find out.
I'm all for something easier and when I make chocolate cake I use a fudge icing that doesn't even have sugar in it! Mind you, don't think the condensed milk does my waistline any favours!!

HOME MADE FONDANT
I did my own fondant successfully, recipe quite similar to above but with addition of 2 tbsp shortening and some glycerine. Since homemade fondant does not have preservative, can anyone let me know how long can I keep.

Re: Really Easy fondant
Moe, I like your tagline "Your mother is not a good test market!" hahaha

Re: Really Easy fondant
Well Mama Min, the tagline reflects that at least my mother thinks I'm wonderful! She would probably say that deep fried lettuce was wonderful if I gave it to her and asked! (Please don't tell me you can deep fry lettuce!).
Your Maya Angelou quote is of course a classic and very true.
