Black forest cake
Hi ladies,
My daughter's 11th b-day is coming up and she's way over the regular decorated cakes with fancy icings and figurines. Her favorite cake is black forest. She just wants that cake with candles for her big day. We've bought some from a couple of bakeries and found it not so good. I've baked lots of cakes, but not this one. Anyone have a recipe that's been tried and not too complicated? TIA.

Hi ccc,
My favourite is Jo's recipe. I always use her recipe whenever I have request for blackforest cake. Those who have tried it always give it a thumbsup. You can get it from her website.

Re: Black forest cake
Hi ccc, I don't have any recipe but I would recommend you to try Jan Lim's cakes. She is a member here and she does light and fluffy cakes and the last one I tried was the black forest cake.
My littlest one just love Jan's cakes.
Maybe you can twist her arms (sorry Jan
) and get her recipe or buy the cake from her . FYI I don't do sponge cakes so I get such cakes from others who do them well, like Jan.

Re: Black forest cake
Thank you ladies. Will definitely check out your suggestions later. Alyssa's b-day is this Sat and as a last resort I was planning to go to a franchise bakery nearby to order a black forest cake I thought looked quite good. Not sure how it would taste, but at least it looked nicely decorated.

Dear all,
I just want to say that I've tried JO's Black forest recipe last weekend and it is LOVELY!! My husband loves it sooo much!!
And Carol, thanks for the kirsch!!
After chomping down 2 pieces.. he said he's a bit mabuk!! Hahahahahah!!
Thank you JO for such a lovely recipe... The chocolate chiffon is really nice... even when it's eaten plain on it's own

Thanks to Jo; I made the black forest cake (http://happycup.blogspot.com/2009/10/eat-your-black-forest-cake.html) with your recipe, and it is great!
I now use this recipe whenever I make choc chiffon cake cos it si simpler and more straight forward from the my other one!
