Golden Syrup can be bought in any supermarket, Cold Storage and Carefour both stock it.

Golden syrup can get from most of the baking ingredient shops too. Like BWY, Chang Tung, Bagus, and others.

FP, here you go!

http://howtoeatacupcake.net/2007/07/billys-vanilla-vanilla-cupcake-with.html

I agree with everything she's said. I would have ot say though that on the day it was made it was the BEST THING EVER. KINDA like kenny rogers. Not at liberty to say what happend on day #2 as my tastebuds coldnt' taste right, having had an Amy Sedaris one that didn't turn out right. Hmmm. I also have another recipe...ahh..a vanilla one that is very oily but very good, that one, is more like kenny rogers. so i'm working on that one to be less oily, and billy's vanilla to be softer.

Re: Looking for a Carrot Cake Recipe

Post by Zalina on Sun May 10, 2009 2:58 am

I am waiting for my carrot cake baking in the oven right this very moment. It's the 4GoodnessCake recipe introduced by Cupcakesordeath. Crossing my fingers it will come out fine. This is my first time ever baking a carrot cake and I am doing it for a Mother's Day potluck gathering among family members later today.

After pouring the batter into the cake tin, I couldn't help licking the leftovers in the bowl (something I don't normally do) ..... it tasted soooo delicious even uncooked cheers

One question ..... I have not decided how to ice the cake. I thought of not doing a creamcheese frosting because not everyone in the family loves creamcheese or can tolerate it. I actually wanted to cover it with fondant but at the last minute, I couldn't find any fondant at the Bagus I went to No So I guess it'll have to be buttercream. BUT WHAT FLAVOUR??? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (I will be doing the icing this evening) because morning I'll definitely wake up late, hahaha. (It's already almost 3 am).

Aiya Zalina....I guess my reply is already too late....perhaps lemon buttercream might work?

I second Sheryl. Anything zesty with carrot cake is good in my books! Or just a orange glaze =)

Thanks, CCOD, Eunice. I went with creamcheese, my favourite. The carrot cake is simply delicious! I adjusted the recipe to make enough for a 10-inch cake. Everyone was saying it's comparable to Secret Recipe's Very Happy

And for those who don't like creamcheese topping, I made a Devil's Food Cake with buttercream icing, mint flavour. A great combination, in my humble opinion.

By the way, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all of you (who are mothers). Hope the day went great for everyone.
