Re: Moist Orange Poppy Seed Recipe
Hi Niq, I've made this cake from Epicurious a few times and it's really nice. You don't have to serve it with the berries called for in the recipe; and just make half the quantity of syrup for soaking the cake. It's very light and moist!

Oh and I cut down the sugar in the cake to 1 cup.

Re: Moist Orange Poppy Seed Recipe
Jackie it's the black poppy seed, although the colour is more blue-grey; can get at BWY/CT or any of the baking shops. The ones that are used for spice is the white poppy seed, Malays call it kas-kas; used in Indian cooking and some Malay dishes.

Re: Moist Orange Poppy Seed Recipe
I got mine at the organic shop at Bangsar Village. It was labelled as Natural Poppy Sseds. I have tried the organic section at Jusco and Carrefour, but no luck. Guess you should be able to get this from more specialised organic shop.

Re: Moist Orange Poppy Seed Recipe
Can I use it straight away or need any pre-soaking?

Re: Moist Orange Poppy Seed Recipe
Use straight from packet, no need to soak. It adds a nice crunch to the cake though the flavour is very subtle.
