MCDC Year End Party

Right ladies and gentlemen, the year of 2010 is coming to an end. Why not a celebration to welcome the year of 2011 and hope it will be a fruitful year with lots cake orders.

The moderators are excited to let you know that we are planning an MCDC Year End Party. We will do anything BUT CAKES! No cakes will be in the topics and no cakes will be served as well!

Below are some rough ideas about the party. We would like to first seek the interest level of the members before proceeding with detailed execution. Please let us know if you are interested in joining the party. You feedback will determine if this party will come to a reality Any comments are much welcomed.

Time: 7pm
Venue: Yet to be decided
Theme: Bollywood
Happenings: Food, Dance, lucky draws, best proformace awards to the members, etc.
Estimated charge per pax: RM 100

Jo, how about some contest on stage like dressing up your partner with saree...look like a Bollywood superstar? or something like that.

Jo, love the idea... I will be the first to sign up as I will be in town on Dec 18....

This is my comments and suggestions:
1) RM100.00 might be a little too much for majority of the members....
2) Have a theme is great, it might stop many members from joining if they do not want to spend extra for costumes etc.... so, still stick with the theme and be flexible by not forching all to follow the rules....
3) All lucky draws, prizes, award, and souvenirs should not be from the fund of MCDC... we should ask for sponsors from ppl like: Jay Wong, Neng Gang, Nancy, Wati and Gina.... I am sure we will do something for the club..... Also, is Christmas time, we can have something like gift exchange (limit to a gift between RM10.00 to RM15.00) so everyone will go home with a gift....

Should think of something like potluck, in this case, we can save our food cost and membes can "show off" too at the same time....

The main purpose of this party is to get members togather, getting to know each others, exchanging and sharing of ideas and information. If we make this affordable, I am sure we will be seeing more new faces....

I am super excited despite not having had a chance to attend any of the gatherings before!

I think RM 100 is fine. As for the theme, it is only fun if made compulsory. Jay, sorry to disagree with you. We all have friends from other ethnic groups so no need to spend and buy costumes mah! Another theme could be a fancy dress party - perhaps people may find this more flexible.

Azalia - great idea- we could call it MCDC Project Runway!
Another item could be : 'Start, camera, action - acting out a bollywood movie scene : group activitiy

Food - we could do pot luck but I personally would prefer not to be stressed out about food preparation but getting ready to party! I would prefer to let someone else (caterers?) do the job for a change!
Perhaps we could allow 1 guest (paid of course!) each? This is purely for selfish reasons - would make getting in and out of K.L. easier!

oh this sounds like fun! a gift exchange, games (in groups) and a fun theme will be great. Jo, would you have an estimated turn out figure in mind? also, what sort of venue do you have in mind? just curious as i've not attended any meetings nor parties yet so far. can't wait to meet everyone.

i love the idea of dressing up according to the theme and the gift exchange idea!

Another idea would be karaoke? Places like Red Box do themes....and, you can have it during 'daylight' hours for those of us who find night functions more difficult to attend.

Jay, I know what you mean by the costume, you might not know when to wear it next. No worries, you can always pinjam my saree... I have many sizes and if you so feel inclined, I also have the skirt types too... hehehehehe... (jgn marah, nanti kena jual...)

I like all the suggestion for activities...sounds so much fun already. The RM100 is required for venue (my house area cannot, got noise police), food (coz we don't want to be smelling like food that day), equipments (music, mic etc) and misc charges. As for the prizes and lucky draw, we do require our kind sponsors assistance.

MCDCians, when the Moderators and Jo sat down to talk about this, we really have in mind to do something nice for the MCDCians, other than cakes. At the end of the day, this can be a reality ONLY with the participation of you, MCDCians. So for those who are in town that time, leave your aprons and chef hats at home and don down shiny shiny costumes (would be very nice if you do) and come join us! We can start the prep by putting our names in the list below coz we need to see numbers. You know the drill dearies. (Oh btw, I have taken the liberty to add in names in the list, please feel free to change it to your respective names)
